Steel run

Postby Justin » Thu Mar 27, 2014 8:50 am

Kirk and I are planning to go to Hinton early next week to pick up some steel. Between his military discount, some history with Hinton, and some quantity we're anticipating a discount. If anyone wants in, please post up and I'll get a ballpark price for what you're needing. The more we buy, the larger the discount. We'll need prepayment via Paypal to purchase, and can provide the address to those who are interested. Pickup can be at my house in Lakewood or Kirk's in Parker.

Are you able to carry full lengths(24') of tubing? If so I may be in for some 1.75" o.d. .120 wall DOM picked up at your house. Price? I've been meaning to call them for a price but if there is a discount I'd definitely be interested!

They've got 19' sticks of 1.75 that retail for $102, and currently have 4 in stock. They're out of the 1.5", but will be calling me back later today with pricing and availability. Kirk, if they call you instead I used your account since that's what we'll be buying under.

OK, heard back from Hinton, the 1.5" will likely be available in time to get some on this run and retails for $5.45/foot.

Also, I need a piece of 1/4" plate that's 6-7'x3'. Anyone interested in the rest of a 4x8 sheet?

I believe Kirk already has all of the steel for my tire, gas can, and cooler rack. You may want to check with him on whether he needs any more for me-- if so, add it to what you guys get.

Thanks.

1/4" plate is handy to have around, but far cheaper at a scrap supply like K&K Surplus. However, if you have a project that requires larger pieces, buying a whole sheet is beneficial.

I miss fabricating!
