Ok, as of last Monday I am the father of a new driver. My daughter passed her drivers test (god help me). We have been working on her car for about 4 months now, a 75 Bronco. The Bronco is about 2 weeks away from going to the painter. Of course it has been "about 2 weeks" away from going to the painter for about 5 weeks now but we are getting close.
The quick summary goes like this.
- Daughter wants "jeep"
- Dad doesn't
- Dad finds Bronco
- Daughter is estatic
- Dad buys Bronco
- Dad finds usual Bronco rust
- Dad and daughter replace most of the front clip (pillars forward) and drivers area floor
- Daughter gets pissed that it is taking so long
- Dad busts ass over the holidays to get things back together
- Daughter is happy
- Painter looks at car and points out some "undiscovered" problem areas
- Dad is pissed
- Dad and daughter replace lower quarters, repair rear pillars and tailgate lower panel.
- We are back on track
- Dad discovers drivers door is trashed
- Dad is pissed
- Dad and daughter continue putting items back together (roll bar, harnesses, and misc stuff)
You get the picture. Still got a few weekends worth of work before the painter but we are getting there.
Talk to you all soon.
PS. I need a drivers door (will take both if the price is right)

What a great story. As the father of two, I am hoping both of my kids want Broncos. The pain will all be worth it when she gets to drive it. Once you are finished, you can get your own and start all over again :).
Keep us updated on the progress. Love to know what color you guys are going with, too.

FJ Green and satin black. Yes its a Toyota color but she picked it and the combo looks awesome.
Long story but I have two project cars waiting. 66 Mustang and I'm in the middle of a Frame off on a 4x4 that is not a Bronco (also not a jeep). However that said I kinda got the Bronco bug now. I need a bigger garage.

Awesome project. I only hope some day my kids want to drive Broncos too. Can't wait to see the color scheme on the ride.

Absolutly Awesome! Check out our build thread. Same story (except it it is obvious you are far more concerned about how it looks that we are).
I am looking forward to meeting you and wheeling "with the kids" until we get to have out own broncos.
Drew's build:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=222And no - it will not be heading to the painter any time soon.

Nice work! I am a Mustang owner as well, '65...I will tell you that I have put ten miles on my bronco after owning it for nearly 2 years because of repair and replacing metal. The never ending saga!

Ok, back from paint.
A little cloudy but the "Army Green" and trim black looks awesome.
More when its back together.
Now if I can just remember where the dimmer mounts, and the routing on the e-brake cable and how the window assemblies go in, and where the bucket of screws is and and and ............

All I have to say is that she will appreciate it that much more because you are making her do the work with you. That color looks pretty good too.
