ARB fitting leak

Postby BNC04 » Tue May 13, 2014 9:11 am

The fitting is leaking at the Diff. I took the outer nut/fitting off and tried to Teflon tape it to no avail so I think I need to remove the compression sleeve and re-install with a new one. The question I have is,, Can I do this without messing something up and requiring me to remove the diff cover or can I just remove the fitting that goes into the diff and replace the compression sleeve on the support tube and re-assemble?

Thanks
Brett

ARB fitting leak

You will have to remove the cover as once you take the compression fitting off the metal tube in the diff will probably move away from where the diff/compression fitting was. And it would be a huge headache to get back in the new fitting.

Once you pull the fitting you will see what I mean. Weird it's leaking there as it's just a brass metal on metal fitting. Don't believe there are any o rings at that connection.

Thanks for the info. My thought is ,when I was doing the body lift, the air line snagged and pulled up from the compression fitting and tube and now won't reseat without replacing the compression fitting and getting the line back over the tube coming up from the diff.

The newer ARBs have an O ring on the copper tubing.

You can replace that little O ring with out removing the cover plate. I have done this using a set of forceps just be careful not to crush the tube. It is also important to get the new Oring back in the original position. You will notice a slight compression mark from the original install.
