Post Flare install tips
My WH Warflares showed up today. This is a pretty basic question, but I've never cut a body panel in my life. Any suggestions? At this point I'm planning to tape the flare to the fender, draw a line, cut 1.5" from the line and install, probably with the provided screws (at least for now). Thinking about using a jigsaw, figure that'll have enough power and give the most control. Is the added power of a sawzall needed?

Very cool! Gotta post up pics when you are done. I didn't order the Warfares - I think I am going Fiberglass from JGZ and have them painted. I have a Jig Saw and a Saws-All and they will both work. However, I will likely use a grinder with a cut off wheel.

Sawzall not needed. You'll have more control with a jig saw. Do like Dan said either apply tape to the panel or to the base of the jig saw. Just keep the saw tight against the panel. You don't want it to bounce or it could cause a ripple in the sheet metal or worse bounce hard enough to bounce the blade out and zinger the panel.

My warflares showed up yesterday also along with my new HD 3.5in lift springs. I do not have to cut the rear but the front has to be cut. I would be interested in seeing how yours turns out. JP

I'm jealous, I really wanted to pick up a set of those springs, but the shipping did me in. Sounds like we've got a few trucks to cut, anyone interested in getting together and doing them all at the same time? Seems like a job that is easy but that a second set of hands/eyeballs could be useful.

I'm planning to cut out enough to take out the 2" body lift on my rig, so also plan to run 3.5" of lift with 35s. I'm planning to cut out the flares around the gas fillers as much as I can without the gas cap touching the flare and get as close to the body line as possible in the rear. I haven't decided if I'll go all the way to the body line in the front or match whatever height the rears wind up at.

It does look nice when the flares miss the fuel filler(s) if possible. There is definitely room to move the filler up and back. My fuel filler is at the furthest up and back squeezed into the opening. I needed to add a few inches of fuel hose to make it work tho.

Justin - why removing the body lift? I think yours sits perfect. Also, aren't you doing a new front bumper? That will bring the front down a bit.

I'm thinking about bringing the fuel necks up. I've got a 23 gallon rear tank as well, so I'll probably pull the aux tank out. I had though about converting the aux filler neck into an air outlet, but may just cut it out depending on how much sheet metal I end up removing. Chad, thanks! I like the way it looks too. I want to take out the body lift to lower the center of gravity and to help clear the garage door a little better. I managed to catch my top on the door and tweaked it a little this summer, don't really want to deal with having to be super anal about lifting it as high as it will go. Mostly I'm into function over form and it annoys me that the truck is taller than it really needs to be.

I totally understand about the garage door issues. I wanna go 35's (from 33's), but I will likely hit. I am not sure cost of new grade 8 mounting bolts, may not be much more to get the WH 1" Integrated BL.

Based on this thread and the pics in the calendar, most guys are going flares on all 4-wheels and most are black plastic material. Cannot wait to see yours done!

I held mine up today and there is no way they will fit the way I want with the front filler. I may not have to move the rear. Maybe just a little trim on the edge of the flair.

From the calendar pics, looks like they trim a bit around the front filler. Welding in a patch on the front filler is WAY easier than moving the rear filler :).

I already welded up my aux filler hole. I just have to mess with the measurments. I may beable to get away without moving the rear.

I don't have a pic handy, but I cut a small crescent moon shape out of my flare to mount where I wanted on the driver side. Then trimmed the welting and ran it with the shape and it looks ok.

Here is a pic of my WH flares installed. I cut a ton off to fit 42's with a 5.5" lift.

Here is a picture of the WH Warflares on Jonah's Bronco. We just ground out a small cresect for the filler tube, cap clears the flare. I think we used a cut-off tool to trim the opening.
