Post The emergency brake pedal broke off the arm
I climbed in the bronco to get some lunch. Pulled the emergency brake release, and the arm slams forward as always and crashes into my roll bar, as always. Then I hear an extra thud. I look down and the pedal has broken off the arm and is lying on the floor.

That's going to be all sorts of fun to weld blind back behind the roll bar, arm, dash, and with the firewall crowding me.

It looks like it just had one big blob of weld holding it to begin with and it lasted 40 years.

I can blob weld with the best of em.

Pull the arm out and weld on a bench. It's easy enough to pull.

e-brakes are overrated anyway... I have never had one. LOL!

I had mine grenade on me a couple years ago. Mine couldn't be fixed, but I grabbed the pedal from a dead 79 Jeep Wagoneer & within a hour had it in my truck. It bolted through the exisiting holes in the firewall & it just took a little cutting & welding to mount it to the dash, but that was it. Plus it has a switch for a p-brake light. Just a thought, if yours can't be fixed. Those Wags & Cheorokees are a dime-a-dozen, I've been given 2 for free in the last 10 years.

That's funny (sad but funny). I have the same thing happen with the emergency brake pedal slamming up against the roll bar. So now, I've gotten in the habit of starting the engine, then sliding my right foot under my left leg to cushion the emer. brake pedal as I release it. Bronco version of Twister? We do what we have to do;)

Being an old fart I can remember when this happened quite a lot. I am in the habit of hovering my foot over the parking brake pedal when I release it to "cushion" the shock of the spring pressure of the brake pedal when it returns.
