 Dumb question.... So the axle code on my '74 says A58. Anyone know what gears I might possibly have? I only found that A5's are 4.11s.
After a little research I found that it is also an HD. Is it safe to assume the HD means heavy duty? or am I way off base here?

Re: Dumb question.... Are you certain it doesn't say A5J? A5 would indicate a 9" with 4:11 gears and LS. I'm not sure what an 8 would indicate, a J would be PS on the Dana 44.

Re: Dumb question.... A5 is 4.11 limited slip in the 3300 lb axle.
8 is front limited slip without power steering.

Re: Dumb question.... The 3300 lb capacity axle is heavy duty. It was required with the 4900 lb GVWR (U152) and optional with the 4500 lb GVWR (U151).
