Post Carburetor Experts????
To start, I am no carb expert at all and plan on going EFI when I can afford it. So to anyone who has experience with carburetor's, does a carb spacer help with warm hard starts?

Bronco starts up great when cold. But like today, I drive it for ten minutes, walk around Lowe's, come back and I have to hold the pedal to the floor and crank for a few seconds before it starts. The old 2 barrel never did this, started as soon as I put the new edelbrock 4barrel and intake on.

I was thinking of getting a carb spacer because I thought maybe the carb is getting hot and vapor lock was occuring....any thoughts??

I think your diagnosis is dead on.

A little surprising it would do it when this cool out though.

I agree too..But, I guess even though it is colder out, the engine still operates at the standard temp no matter what time of year and transfers that heat to the carb???I don't know... BTW, I just sent you a PM on on classicbroncos....I thought I recognized that name!

I have the edelbrock performer 1406; it's a 4 barrel carb. If it does fit, just let me know how much; cash or beer, or both icon biggin

The one I've got will work for you. It's a 1/2" phenolic spacer and is yours for the low price of nothing. PM me with your location and we can figure out how to get it to you. It could help, and definitely won't hurt. If you want to bring the seals and stuff to install it we can throw in on at my place. I've got the same carb and would be happy to tinker on it with you.

Im running an edlebrock 1411 with a 1in plastic spacer. But I have also tuned it with a wideband o2 so it's dead on. With the proper timing and carb adjustments it should not have any issues.

If you plan to run the carb for a while it might be a worth while investment to purchase a wideband set-up. It will allow you to tune it with out having to guess if your close or not. I run the AEM uego 6-1 set-up in both my bronco and mustang.

Ive got one as well, but from innovate motorsports. The world is my chassis dyno. They're worth every penny. After i go efi I'm thinking about doing the tune myself since I've got it.

I've used the phenolic and found a wood spacer to work the best. Not sure where I got it probably from Summit. I was having that problem all the time and what I also did was wrap the fuel line, run the line so it doesn't lay on the engine very long anywhere. This gas with 10% ethanol boils pretty easily so you have to remove as much heat as possible.
