Post 3G wiring
I have the following alternator:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1992-93-94-95-9 ... mp;vxp=mtr

Am I to believe this is not a true 1-wire alternator? How would I connect this alternator to the AAW harness I bought from WH?

Am I better off getting a different alternator or will this one work with this harness? Do I need to do some reconfiguration of the wiring

What you have is what you want. They aren't "1-wire" alts, but from what I read, they are better than 1-wire models, I forget why. One wire will trigger the alt from a 12V switched source. And one heavy gauge wire runs to the battery. You can run a ground wire too. Sometimes they don't ground through the case the way it should. I think this is what you have:

Thanks. Makes more sense now. And I have the wires. Image

The larger yellow wire can be cut and looped right back to the large charging stud and the green wire with red tracer should be connected to the green wire with red tracer wire going to your stock regulator/alternator. Add a large 4 gauge wire with 150 amp fuse going directly to your battery and you are all set.

Post Re: 3G wiring
I had a buddy having trouble with his charging system one time. He had just installed his 3G. Neither of us not knowing much about it, we looked at his setup and he had one 12ga wire running somewhere and I told him that wasn't right, but he was adamant about it being a "one wire setup". He must not have even had that one wire hooked up right because it should have melted thru within minutes!

Sorry, still know little about it, but sounds like you're getting good help!
