I'm going with "you didn't build that" and "It's Bush's fault".

As a child of the 80s I prefer to blame Reagan.

Glad you caught that in time, could have been much wise.

Wait what... An ARB failed. Not possible. Ask anyone that has paid extremely toooo much for one. They are the best ever (read ever in a valley girl voice).

I assume that to be in the 69....pretty much makes it LBJ's fault. Even if it was in the "city dweller" it would be Carter's fault.

So finally got my new bolts and started to really take a look at the old ones. Looks like the old bolts were just a hair too long and were bottoming out on the ring gear causing it to loosen up. The ring gear bolts also didn't have a "shoulder" to go through the carrier, and have the more desirable larger heads for more "gripping" force.

Evidently the ring gear bolts that were a bit too long came in a Yukon gear kit for this ring and pinion, I would have just assumed they would have worked so just a heads up out there to make sure what they send will work for your application, never assume!

I chased all the threads with a tap, then cleaned everything really good, red locktited and torqued the new bolts down.

Unfortunately I ordered the wrong seal housing (35 spline instead of 31) so waiting on the correct one - While I wait I have been checking the back lash and other little things in the mean time since I know the ring gear moved ever so slightly on the carrier...

Oh shitzu

I wonder if this could be the culprit to my intermitten gear noise I "think" I hear from mine.

Rox, your ring gear bolts should be good, if my memory is right they were the "correct" bolts. Also red loctite was used and they came up to torque correctly.

I've come to believe that 90% of the noises I think I hear from my truck are not there.
