Exploder fan

Postby TOOLMAN » Mon Sep 29, 2014 7:52 am

Okay fellas,

Quick question(s): how do you get the clutch fan off the water pump on the Explorer 5.0? Is it pressed on there? Maybe I wasn't doing something correctly? Also, which fan is preferable: the plastic or metal ones? It seems like the metal is on '97 and earlier while the plastic is on the '98 and later.

Thoughts?

Two ways:

Buy a Ford clutch fan tool

Remove enough of the bolts to access the nut with a pair of
Channel locks.

The later is more cost effective.

I also have the clutch fan wrench if you need it.

The metal one supposedly is slightly better - I don't know why exactly but must be because I have one. :)
