I bought a reman from checker auto and it's hav a hard time getting to 12v I'm going to return it. Is there anything lease that can cause charging issues. I have 12v to the excite wire. I don't think the belt is slipping but it's possible I guess. Here is why is new

If your belts are slipping, you will hear it.

Are you wired like this?

The green wire provides the power to excite the field coil.
The yellow wire is used to detect battery voltage. This is actually a very cool feature of the 3Gs. Most people wire it to the output as shown in the pic, but if you wire it to the battery as intended, the alternator will boost output to compensate for line-loss in your battery cables.
Cummins R2.8 diesel, ZF5, AtlasII, HP44/BB9, ARBs, coiled / linked suspension, 37" KO2s, full cage, bumpers, etc.
