I'm starting to get all of my ducks in a row to start my Explorer EFI swap. I want to get the intake and plenum cleaned before I paint/clear them. Most of the mung is on the internal surfaces (cooked on oil/soot).
I was just going to send them out to be hot-tanked, but I've been reading recently that it may not be wise considering they are aluminum. Does anyone have any thoughts on the best way to clean them? Soak in Simple Green? Use Purple Power and pressure wash (I think I may have read that Purple Power is a little corrosive)?
I think all the brackets, pulleys, etc. can be cleaned pretty well with some good pressure washing since there's no internal mungy-ness.
Any input would be appreciated.
