My 37" spare won't fit on my spare tire carrier. I doubt it would hold up very long if it did.

I bought a Ruffstuff spare tire hinge and am planning the rack.

I'd like to see some pics of swing away carriers that are holding up with a 37" tire.

Material size/shape/wall thickness would be helpful too.

Thanks. I have a bunch of 1.75x0.120 tubing. I was hoping it would be strong enough. The pics of the tire carrier help a lot.

I have had this one holding a 37 for about 4 years now and it has been fine, believe it had the Ruff Stuff pivot on it.

And loaded up!

What size is the round tubing?

I like the hi lift mount. I have always had it inside the truck. I might need to rethink that.

One thing about the hi-lift inside is (with a top at least) is protected from the elements. They can be finicky little beasts with pins not sliding etc. They do make covers for the important bits tho...

Indeed. I considered it as well, but was looking at mounting it at an angle behind the tire in hope to not catch so many branches. But I also don't generally carry a bunch of stuff in my bronco.

I use my high lift as a leg on the tire carrier, the base plate is bolted to the shaft of the high lift behind the tire. It doesn't' stick out beyond the top so I have never caught it on anything.

I didn't want to add more weight to the rear when i could just use the high lift as a support since its rarely used. Two 3/4 bolts/nuts retain it for easy removal.

Round tubing is 1.5" and I think .120 wall. The only thing I regret with the Hi-Lift mount was I had to turn the top of the jack down, you can see it in the picture. When I had it up the first time I took a good chunk of of my garage door frame.
