With everything back together, I've thrown another 2000 miles on the truck, brining the total to 10,000 miles since the Cummins swap. Other than blowing up the rear axle, things have been great. Still getting about 23.5 mpg with mixed driving. I've put the Bronco to work like it should and with the Powerstroke at the body shop getting hail damage repaired, the Bronco is also daily driving.

Great to see this build again!! That's some crazy pinion carnage! I blew a mini-spool 17+yrs ago and that did a LOT of damage. While I hate my full-spool on the street, it has been uber-reliable.

I wonder what a bronco that is more stock, (mild lift, on 31's) would get for MPG with that drivetrain? It's still a brick, but a shorter one.
1973 Bronco, 351 SEFI, Locked, discs, 35's ZF-5spd and Atlas 4spd. 235:1 Crawl Ratio. It may be ugly, but it's slow.

To be fair, I built that axle 22 years ago and it had 130k-140k miles with a lot of trail use under two different rigs and four different powertrains.
