Fate or CL messing with me?
Yesterday, while sitting in Denny's having breakfast with Zilla and Vragor, I related an old desire to build a 70's crew cab Cummins 4x4. Last night I go home, sit down in front of the computer, and open craigslist. And low and behold what pops up?

If only I had three more garages and 12 more hours in the day.

What is the demand and pricing for the older Ford Trucks? I know Classic Broncos have kept their value - what about the same era trucks? That Truck seems like an amazing deal. I would guess you can get replacement parts for that truck just like our Broncos, but hey sold 10x as many trucks as EB's so the parts may even be easier tofind than for our Broncos. Nice truck and a great find.

Good plan but what am I going to tow if I sell you the Bronco?

The crewcab 4x4 shortbeds are about as rare, if not more, than Broncos. Most of the ones you will find are 2wd models. I know the 73-79s are in pretty big demand. A couple of years ago I called an owner of a 78 in Pueblo about one for sale. His ad had gone up just an hour before. I got directions, headed out from COS, and before I hit Fort Carson was told it was already gone. Cash in hand. Truck on the trailer.
Replacement parts for the 73-79s are pretty easy to come by, unless you are talking cabs, rear doors, or frames. Everything else is pretty standard.

I am very impressed with all all of those trucks - the original Ford from Craigslist and all of Zilla's custom builds. The Grabber Blue Dodge with the Monster Engine is beautiful! Nice Work Zilla! The Truck in the CL ad may be an extremely good buy.

That it may, but I've just signed on for a new Bronco. House rules are one project at a time.
And as it turns out, my recent purchase might have turned out to be a MUCH more extremely good buy.
I'm still waiting on confirmation.

And the experts say...
I've just secured a Stroppe modified Bronco. Not a Baja edition, but the truck has been through the shop.

I want that 79 crew with the cummins. I woulda loved to put a cummins in my 79 bronco but instead I went with the warmed over big block.

I am an Old Truck nut too. But I am into the Power Wagon Flavor.
I dig them too, only owned one 72 power wagon though. I was reading an article on old trucks history a few years ago and dodge had a Early 60s high performance pickup that had a big block with a custom dash and some other goodies installed in it, the article said it was the "grandpappy" of super trucks as it was about all of the HP pickups built. I lost that article and havent been able to find it again, it was a neat read.
We have a really nice Red Dentside crewcab up here running around, I have not had an opportunity to talk to the owner yet.
Right now im driving a 78 Short bed custom cab with about 750k on it rebuilt the 351M at about 500 and the C6 trans about 3 years ago which had to be close to 600k. Never failed an E test, Dad bought it new, we have beat the crap out of that truck and its still going. I have mounts to swap to a 460 if I get the chance and time and finish everything else I have to do. LOL

That is called the CSS (Custom Sport Special) Yup they were Bad Ass, they came with the 426 Wedge , small ralley stripes and with center console. Ever seen a Dodge Dude? Those were cool as well.
http://www.sweptline.com/hist/css.html
Yup thats it, ive known quite a few dodge dudes, most of them remind of 1970s potheads or their kids trying to be the same (and we all laugh about that one) you would get along realy well with one of my buddies, he has a few Mopars including a survivor and very clean lil Red Xpress and an old Ram 4x4 along with a few musclecars. Ive notices a spurt in early 60s dodge pickups lately. About ten years ago there was one Blue one that looks a lot like your old pickup, to about 3 years ago when they had an entire line in the mopar show at Bandimere. They are neat looking pickups. I found an old pic of my Dad who I always thought drove only Fords standing in front of one.

That truck sounds like it has been pampered - may be able to pull out the old Blue Book Loan tactic to get it for less. Tell them your Credit Union will only loan $XX,XXX.XX for it.
