73 Ranger - My first EB

Post by Dukietown »

Wanted to drop in with some pics of the Bronco I picked up this week. Hope to get to start cleaning it up and checkin it out this weekend.

PO wasn't sure how much lift it has, my guess was 3". Running 33's and it doesn't look like there's any body lift.

Looks like I'm leaking something on the driver's side, brake fluid?

That is one of my favorite colors for the EBs. Very nice looking ride you have there! Lots of work ahead but looks like a solid vehicle. I love the diamond-plate backing to the stereo! Whatever works:) What are your plans?

Thanks! First things I'd like to are reconnect the door internals, right now only the outside handles work. Also need to replace a few snapped bolts on the hinges. Othe big issues are the drifting and some strange electrical things. When I was bringing it home the headlights started cutting in and out. Got those goin again but lost the internal lights.

Eventually would like to patch the rust spots, put new flares on, reupholster The back seat and possibly put the stock fronts back in, new tailgate and so on. Not looking to make it a show truck but I'm looking to get it cleaned up and running well for some daily drives, wheelin and plenty of camping.

Really looking forward to showin up to some club events and tech days. You guys have all been so awesome and helpful already. Really a great group!

Great score my man! Why don't you bring it to Hockeydad4-22's on 7/9/11 and we'll help you with some of the items on the "to do" list.

Would love to but I'm going to be hiking Mt. Elbert that day. I will definitely have to come by the next one if there is one!

sorry to disagree but thats not the heater core, the heater core is on the passenger side, that looks like the drain is clogged and the seals are bad in the fresh air vent box, so its filling up with water and leaking in the truck, swing that door open on that fresh air vent and i'd bet you'll find it full of leaves and junk, but either way it needs to be resealed, and congrats on the ride, definetly a project, but it does have quite a few things good going for it, im not sure if its the same one i saw on craigslist, does it have lockers?

Those are some great before pics. Really excited to see it after a couple of cans of engine degreaser. Looks like it has a ton of great adds - stereo, front bumper, killer tires, and the sweet Hellcat rims (like Plumbdoctor), GT steering wheel, rock skis, WOW! Nice find and happy it all worked out for ya!

I am sure Elbert will be there the next weekend. I say come on down, meet the guys and have some fun. Depending on who is able to make it, I bet you can get the electrical gremlins all taken care of easy, and who knows, may even be able to attack the seals on your vents.

I think you can count on at least quarterly open tech/shop days and just about every weekend someone is working on something. Not to mention all the wheeling and trial rides, car shows, cruises, BBQ's and basic good times. This is one active group and they are always willing to jump in and help. If the weather - hang on, with the snow pack this year you are not going to be able to get all that high on Elbert that weekend anyway, I say come on down.

Doing it as part of a charity event a buddy of mine runs to benefit the children's hospital. Climbing Mt Sherman on the 8th and Mt Elbert on the 9th. Otherwise I would have definitely rescheduled the climb!

Yeah same one from CL, has Detroit 9" locker in the back and an ARB air locker in the front. Also has a power steering cooler mounted on the cowl directly below the vent in the hood. Is it possible that's leaking down the vent and into the cab? I'll open up the fresh air vent and take a look. Would I be better off relocating that to the front? Looks like it has a tranny cooler mounted in front of the radiator already, wouldn't want to restrict radiator airflow if it might cause problems.

When we opened ours up for the first time, it looked like it had been used for a compost hopper.

you can block it off and run a air duct tube to it if you want to, but when its all sealed up and the drain tube isn't clogged it works quite well, also if you don't see the need for it, Protofab4x4.com has a stow away container with lid that fits in its place thats pretty cool, and to get those seals to reseal it you'll need to order them from one of the bronco vendors, whether you choose bronco graveyard, wildhorses4x4, toms bronco parts, all 3 of them should have it, i know bronco graveyard does. either way awesome purchase man, i look forward to wheelin' with ya!
