That's cool, I only get the neighbor's cat in my yard, until I chase it off that is.

Not only roped him but rode him too.Told my daughter I'd give her a $100 to ride him,by the time the neighbors left the kitty was up to $230.That's just good parenting.

Re: What's in your backyard?
I pulled out into the alley last night & there was a big 5x mule deer still in velvet. I think its probably the same one that I found lounging under my crabapple tree last fall.
The dogs didn't know what to do.
I tried to ride it, but they are quick..............and bite hard.

I would have a hard time not tryin to get it to "commit suicide" and make it's way into my freezer. The most i've had in my yard is a prairie dog. my lab just about gave it a heart attack. Doubt it will be back. Oh and the neighbor has about 30 homing pigeons. A few of them have been a nice meal for my roommates pointer.

Re: What's in your backyard?
Okay, I had this conversation a few days ago with a buddy of mine and now I'm curious. What's the Colorado standard for counting points? Back in Missouri an 8 point buck was a deer with a total of 8 points. My buddy was telling me in California they would consider that a 4 pointer, as it would be assumed there were 4 points on each side, totally 8.
Just so you know I'm not completely hijacking, the other day there was a very nice 8 pointer, still in velvet, hanging out in the parking lot of the townhomes down the street. Now I need to put a salt lick in the lot next door.

Zack, Colorado only counts one side if it is an equal amount of points. If it is an animal that is uneven then it is referred to as a 5x4 or something similar. Most states who have white tail populations count all points (i.e. your 8 point). Mule deer & Elk are counted on one side. But what is really funny is to hear someone from back east or down south say they shot a 10 point buck elk. Ummmm, #1, it's a 5 point. #2 its a bull, not a buck. That is funny crap there.
Back on topic, I've got deer in my yard all the time. No Elk though, I wish. I have to get to my home computer to load pictures of the bear that was in my yard about a month ago, but this pic was last summer

At what elevation do the deer turn into elk?
or
Where do they store the moguls in the summer?
Two of my favorite lowlander questions.

Yeah, heard that one before. I used to have a girlfriend that worked at the summit on Pikes Peak, she would get that question almost 10x a day. Never heard the mogul one, but I guess because I don't live in ski country I wouldn't, but that's a good one too.
