bumper tire rack and jerry can
i've been working on this for a couple weeks and this is where i'm at so far , i see one problem with my center post is too tall so i'll have to cut it down to make it clear the tailgate . that's the fun of fabricating your own tire rack .

Damn Mike that thing is purty. Tire carrier looks pretty slick. Can't wait to see it.

Re: bumper tire rack and jerry can
Looks like some nice work!! I like your spring latch, but I'll bet it rattle just like mine does... Two things you might consider. 1. put a "back stop" behind the arms so it won't ever slam into your tailgate. 2. fasten some delrin plastic below the arms to transfer the load to the bumper when the arms are closed. One other feature I added to mine that I like is a way to hold it open.

Re: bumper tire rack and jerry can
Weds is a no go. I will be at the avs game after Drews practice. Thursday may work. The only thing that may get in the way would be picking up the other sons new to him pick up. That will happen sometime between thursday and saturday depending on a myriad of schedules. I will let you know.

It's a phenolic plastic IIRC, and can be had from mcmaster.com

Re: bumper tire rack and jerry can
we use it for shim stock and wear strips on aircraft , it takes years to wear out . smells horrid when cut and sanded but is oil resistant and will hold paint well .
