While the top piece in mine has no rust, I know the lower sheet metal is rusted out. I think the mount for the clutch is on rusted metal and I know it's just going to blow right through there one of these days.

Is there a "fix" for this area of the bronco so that no water can get down in there? I haven't researched yet.

You're doing FINE by the way! Looks better than it did I'm sure.

Is welding like knott tying?

If you can't tie a good knott, tie allot of em

If you can't make a good weld, layer allot of em?

All I can say is that I have a while to fix all the "crappy welds from the previous owner" as Spencer won't become the new owner for another 12 years (thankfully)

I know what you mean. As I work on my truck, I keep finding shoddy repairs I wish I could blame on a PO.

I finished up the cowl repairs and cleaning up the engine bay.

Gonna drill the holes in the firewall for the RJM wiring harness and the BC Broncos/Vintage Air A/C I will be installing someday down the road.

sorry, got distracted

I cut a piece of 16 gauge and put it on the under side of where all that rust is and welded it in there so it was solid.

I then had this cap made and spot welded it to the top of the cowl.

After I finish cleaning up the rest of the welds I will seal and paint.

You'll make more progress if you take the body off the wall. That said, lookin' good! I wish I was getting welding done on mine.

not much really, maybe a full day.

Keep in mind I did a "freakin PO !" type repair as I am going to have a professional replace the cowl and possibly the firewall when I do the body resto in a couple years.

Thanks to Mike and Shawn for helping me pull the 4R70W out of an Explorer today !

We had to wait our turn to get at at it as it was the only 5.0 Explorer in the joint.

Pull-n-Pay was packed like a no charge strip club in a college town.

Sweet, I'm jealous. You get all those bugs worked out, and take lots of notes, so I have an expert to talk to when it comes around to my turn.

Get 'r' done, Rox!

I really haven't looked into it too much yet but I understand that Tom's Bronco Parts usually has the best price. Wild Horses if pricing is all the same.

Saturday: welded up a few lingering holes in the firewall and watched Viper tear into the 4R70W

Sunday: seam sealed the engine bay and drank a couple beers while my neighbor painted it

gaining momentum, should have the body back on by Saint Patrick's Day

then floor replacement and final push to finish EFI swap
