302 heads with emissions 76 - 77

Postby landshark » Sat Mar 03, 2012 8:35 am

Well it turns out the heads on my engine are not emission heads. Engine was swapped at some point in the early 80's. Looking for a set of 302 heads with the air induction ports ideally from a 76 or 77. .

Looking to take my engine back to stock or close to it and looking to put the emissions back on.

Would be nice if they were in decent shape but don't have to perfect as I will have them rebuilt anyway. Let me know what you have and how much.

What heads do you have? Part number is on bottom near intake side. Do they not have the thermacter holes in the exhaust ports?

I have a set of E7TE heads that I started smoothing out the ports on but never finished. Got tired of grinding and bought the AFR's. Free to good Bronco home.

OEM 77 EB (76 was the the same from what I've witnessed) 302 head/s have one emissions (air check valve) port located on the exhaust side at the right hand end (cyl #1 or #8). Rubber tubing is used to route piped air. The D??E casting numbered heads were among the last with the cast rail type rocker arm/s.
The E7TE heads have the emissions ports located on the ends of the head and use a threaded plug on one end of the head so that the ports are active on the firewall end of the head in most applications. Steel piping is used to route air to the ports again in most applications. Should be OK for emissions pass. They were used for trucks and 5.0 HO applications.

Yes i have all the emissions tubes for a 76, hence why i want to go back to a 76 stock head instead of whatever year i have, which is probably a 74 or 75 head not sure, returning the truck to stock config as much as possible.

I have picked up a single type emission tube for the rear heads type air injection as well.. and could make that work will have to see
