Badlands 66

Postby ZOSO » Sat Feb 25, 2012 6:35 pm

Ok guys this is where I'll update and post up some pics. Myself along with help from others in the club have decided to take on the task of finishing the EFI351/auto swap in Steves 66. In the next few days the Bronco will get a once over to see what all is needed to be completed. I will be posting all this up and my progress as the days go on. I will also be having wrench days the next few weekends.

The current state is the c4 and 351 are mounted. The motor mounts are a little low so the harmonic balancer is maybe 1/2" from the crossmember. So we may need to raise the motor a touch. Another thing that might be on the list is a body lift to clear the air cleaner. The core support is gonna have to be cut and modded to fit the aluminum radiator. The steering column needs to be changed out to an auto one. The 3speed floor tunnel needs to be removed and the floor patched. Need to fab up some fuel lines. Needs new E-brake cables as the current ones are too short.

I will post up in the staging area for wrench days.

What a solid group of guys coming to the rescue! I am amazed by their willingness to come help a feller out. Rob and his friend, Bob, Mike, and Jeff were all over yesterday. Hard to adequately express my gratitude. One day, I hope to have the opportunity to pay it forward in some way.

Ok got the old tank and lines out today. pulled out the mustang shorty headers. ran the transmission lines. Tryed mounting up the power steering pump(pump hits lines out of box). Worked on the garage some too. hung some lights so I could actually see. Gonna have to order up some parts before we can really get to rollin.

Pulled the heater box out today for the blower motor and cage upgrade. He's gonna cook out of that half cab now. Got some parts ordered. Also picked up some fuel lines to start on that. The body lift will be dropped off tomorrow so I can start on that. Also need to go pick up some spacer plates from Zilla tomorrow. Gonna be busy once parts show up.

Looking good and cant wait to see some more updates.
I think I need to do some test drives/burnouts and give it a Zillacon certification before it gets back to Steveo just to make sure everything is just right. boxing

He did say to drive it and make sure it's all good. So it might be half cab burnout pic time. :burnout:

Man cutting on a rig this nice makes me get the chills. With that being said I cut up the core support today to get started on mocking up the radiator. Viper will be over tomorrow to help with the tcase. Then Im gonna start replacing the body bushings with the new poly ones.

Ok ran into a snag with the tcase. The manual snub shaft doesnt fit the auto. Rumor has it that you can cut it to the length and go that route. Nope doesnt work. So a snub shaft is on order and should be here monday. Got all the body bushings changed out with new bolts. Not to get started running the fuel supply and return lines. Still have to cut a touch more out of the core support. Hope to have the lines ran this weekend and tank mounted/plumbed. Gotta cut a hole in the firewall for the EFI harness. Mount the ECU. Gettin closer.

Also had a few more items show up. BC throttle cable, BC kickdown cable, BC ebrake cables.

the avatar is the dueling banjos scene from deliverance. Thats Dan's ring tone when he calls me.

Ok so I had to do a body lift. I ended up cutting the 2" down to 7/8". I installed the motor mount spacers. The hood closes over the EFI with a little room to spare. The Power steering pump no longer sit's on top of the steering box. Over all a nice fit n finish now.

Goin back at it. Gonna start the fuel tank and lines.
