Need Your Help !!

Postby RickGyver » Sat Oct 12, 2013 4:50 pm

I have had my '67 for many years. It's about to receive it's 4th engine(bad luck),,,'91 EFI 5L. I foolishly towed it home 3 years ago and forgot to disengage front hubs which fried the C4 tranny after watching my boys do Indy near Penrose. This triggered me to update the drivetrain. I found a '91 T-bird (mass air), drove it home and pulled all the stuff I needed. I rebuilt the C4 and transfer case (which only needed seals and gaskets). The 5L ran well so plan to install as-is for now. Here's my dilemma,,,,,I need someone to give me good advice about 3 items,,,,, Engine prep,(pulleys), fuel delivery and wiring the harness. I don't need the muscle, unless you enjoy being in the garage and telling "stretched stories" while drinking my "beverages", but do need your knowledge!!!!!!!! I am ready to progress with this project so if you are interested in helping and making a new friend, please let me know. In my previous life I was a H.S. shop teacher, (and am proud to admit I taught at #87 Eric Decker's high school) ,,,so I know how to get dirty !!!!!! WooHoo I was encouraged to ask you guys thru a Craigslist ad by a CCB member. I just want my EB back on the road! Thx,,,Rich@303347twotwofour0. I live near Southglenn mall/University and Arapahoe Road, Centennial. THX,, Oorah!

Rick that was me who recommended you seek help here. Let's get a planning meeting together and work out a plan. Happy to help you as I am getting ready to go EFI myself.

I'd like to help but I'm going to be pretty busy until the 2nd half of Nov. I can make time for planning meetings though.

I'll lend a hand, but much like viper I'm booked into Nov, set a date in a couple of weeks and you'll get a bunch of support.

Wow! I'm speechless with the responses! Thanks, '76', for kicking me in the butt! I may have to find a place for the '55 F100 to make more room. Can't wait to talk with you guys! THX PS; I shake my head everytime I glance up and see that wiring harness ! By the way, my garage has heat. This picture is not the EB I am working on! The green Bronco in picture is one of the old Bronco Hut's. We used it at The Hammers one year. Was sold back to B Hut. I'm still looking for a pic of my '67 !!

As far as wiring, my recommendation is to purchase an RJM/Ron Francis harness. You can skimp and rework your existing harness but it's still a 20+ year old harness and connectors, potentially using the salt and pepper shakers which are a known problem. $500 will get you a drop in harness, that matches the Bronco engine compartment configuration, with new connectors and Egr eliminator built in.

After spending months trying to rework my original harness I finally broke down and bought one. Couldn't have been happier with the decision.

I totally agree. Plus you can have them make it to accommodate your specific needs such as adding A/C, vapor evap, and any special connectors / locations.

Plenty of room at my house. Although, I will need the keys. For, um, insurance purposes or something.
