check engine light

Postby B.O.B. » Fri Jan 03, 2014 1:42 pm

What is the best way to wire the check engine light. I have a wire from my harness, would like to use the brake light. What is the best way to do this?

Bobby,

A couple of us have scrounged up brake light assemblies from the pull-n-pay yard and wired them up as check engine lights.

Let me see if I have one laying around.

I believe I still have mine (somewhere ). I guess my question is what wire to where and so forth. I figure the harness wire goes to the light but what grounds it.

Computer supplies the ground for the light at pin 17. Power to the light is constant with key on.

Nice. I'm betting this is why mine has never worked right. I'm not sure where mine is grounded.

As I recall the RJM harness provided the wire to pin 17 but you need to provide the +12V wire to the light.

My rjm provided both wires, pin 17 and pin 37 or 57 or power from relay or something like that
