Dorman part number 74040 ($3.99) appears to be correct. Not carried in stores.
"Help" part number 14041 (Advance $7.49 and Auto Zone $5.99) contains an assortment which may have the correct one.

C4 install woes

Who has a good technique for installing this thing? Heat? Grease? BFH? Two functioning arms? All of the above?

Nope. All the bushings are made out of very rigid plastic. The largest of the bunch was the only one that came close to fitting the outside diameter of the shift rod and the inside diameter of the control lever on the lower column. Despite being very close in size, the density of the plastic leads me to believe these are not correct for Broncos as significant (read distorting) force must be exerted to fit the piece,

That's the guy. You'll need some pliers to press it into the lever first, then press the rod into it. You got one shot at installing it.

Would heating it up in hot water or with a heat gun help?

Perhaps. I'll see tomorrow.

Maybe I'll just leave it on the exhaust manifold for a few minutes. :)

1-2 feels very good. A quick, almost unnoticed shift under light throttle, firm and fast under moderate-heavy. Third seemed to take forever to engage but maybe I'm just accustomed to 4.11s, not 3.50s. Shifting from park or neutral is a very loud clunk though.

Thoughts?

is the loud clunk even more pronounced when going from park to reverse than nuetral to drive ?

did you use a shift kit or no ?

Yes. Park to reverse is definitely more pronounced.
And no shift kit.

I'll check the rear axle tonight when I get home.

For now I'm just happy to be running and driving.
