Lar's Bar's Build

Postby Kinder » Wed Dec 17, 2014 8:10 am

I'm in for 2 sets likely, my Duff arms need new joints so let me confirm the specs.

BTW Hinton has 2x.25 DOM for $11 per foot, they have one stick in stock right now and can get another one locally if needed. If we buy the whole stick we should be able to get a bit better price. I believe the stick is 18-20 foot long.

Lar's Bar's Build

I'm in for a 2 set also for my duff arms to replace my cranky joints even though they are 6 months old. Not sure what size I need.

Just talked to Duff, the rod ends are 1" x 1.25", both are right hand threads, I'll need to see what the bolt size is that goes through it, it's BIG. I'll also need to check the TPI on where they thread into the arm.

http://www.dufftuff.com/1_x_1_25_Diamet ... p/8700.htm

Digger, I don't know if Chris and I are the only folks needing these, but if we are then it'd be nice to put them in with the overall order.

Anyone else running Duff long arms need new ends?

Edit: I also need to measure the ID of the mounting bracket.

$10 says that you're running a 1" bolt (same as Gunni's), and that the threads as 12tpi.

Bump up.

Justin, did you check with any suppliers for brackets? what about a bundle deal with brackets and threaded bungs to weld into the pipe? How about any other prices on DOM?

Nope, not yet. Who would want in on brackets and bungs? I can check about DOM as well. Might get a good deal if shipping isn't too bad.

I'm interested in building a set and would need everything. My problem is I need to also find a set of radius arms. I don't want to de-mobilize my Bronco during the build stage. Anyone have an extra set for sale?

I need all the above - might spring for enough to make 2 sets depending on cost.

OK, so we've got 2 potential group buys:

1.25" joints:
1. Eck
2. Hockeydad (maybe 2)
3. ZOSO
4. Justin
5. Kinder (likely 2)
6. JGZ (maybe 2)

Brackets 'n' bungs:
1. Justin (brackets only)
2. Eck
3. Hockeydad (maybe 2)
4. ZOSO
5. Kinder?
6. JGZ?

Who have I missed? I'll have time Friday to call around and see who will give us the best deal. I really like Ballistic's brackets, but Artec and Ruffstuff are possibilities as well. Feel free to chime in if you've got a preference.

If I had to guess I'd say they'll be in the $350 range or less. depends on the final discounts if we get any.

The brackets run about $45 per pair, and most vendors will automatically give a 10-15% discount just for asking. I'm guessing we'll get better by ordering multiples of stuff.

with no discounts on xaxis joints or brackets or tubing I figuered it right around $300 in material if you already have a set of radius arms.

I'm just getting up to speed on this thread. I'm in on the long arm build for sure. I already have a spare set of arms to build. If the price is right, I may do a set for the boys bronco as well. For those who want to build a set of arms but do not want to have the bronco on jack stands during the build , we could make a junkyard run and molest a few F150's for donor arms.
