Header wrap?

I had wanted to get a set of ceramic coated headers, but scored a straight trade for some mid-length uncoated headers that I couldn't pass up. I'm thinking of wrapping them, both because I like the look and to help with floorboard heat. Any thoughts on how well this works? I know they can promote rust, but I wasn't sure if this was really an issue in dry Colorado, especially as my rig doesn't get driven in the rain much.

All the information I have seen says that it is an extremely bad idea. Claim that it causes metal fatigue in the header, due to keeping the header hot where coating keeps the heat inside the header.
Rust will still be a factor because the wrap keeps condensation in.

The only thing the sites say to use "header wrap" for is to insulate other parts such as fuel pumps and fuel lines from the heat coming off the header, you wrap the other part not the header, but there are better products for that.

Far better to send those headers out for coating.

The headers on the 74 have been wrapped for years with no issues to speak of. If you want to get them coated it's not that expensive. I use Lee at pristine powder coating. He's in englewood off SanteFe.

Any idea of price? Am assuming I'd need to get them blasted as well.

Maybe they can give a 2-for price Justin. I have a set of shorty's that I wouldnt mind getting done if the price is right.

I have no idea on price. The price he will give you will most likely include blasting. Just as a note he blasted and powdered my wheels on my car for $260 for all 4.

There are a few ceramic spray on coatings that are pretty good. You have to bake them a certain way to become permanent
