CCW Class, Feb 9th

Post by freeheelbillie »

I know there are countless Concealed Carry classes out there but a good one is hard to find, so I thought I would pass this along. Kevin Lambeth does an excellent job and knows the laws inside and out with ties to Anthony J Fabian who help write Colorado's CWP legislation. If you have been thinking about taking a class this one might be for you and your family. Next class is Feb 9th!

Good info! Check with your county if you have military experience. With my Marine Corps DD214 I was able to get one without going through the class. Still have to do the background and pay processing but may save you a few bucks

Very true...thats why I like this class, he leaves the shooting portion out. This keep the cost down for those who don't feel like they need the addtional time at the range in a class type setting. That being said, I was floored by some of the legal discussion in the class. It opened my eyes to what is legal when it comes to the use of deadly force.

I though I knew the law, I could not have been more wrong.

Luckily, Colorado honors the Utah Concealed Weapon permit, but this sounds like a great class - similar to Utah without the Shooting portion.

I have a good relationship with Kevin, so if you're interested in the class post up here. If I know how many are willing to go it'll be easier to ask

for a discounted group rate.

I've been thinking about this for a couple of years. My dad has his, and my brother just got his after some tweaker beat the piss out of his work van one night at a 7-11. So I'm gonna be giving this some serious thought.

be very carefull.

Are you a colorado resident? Do you have a Co drivers license?
if so then Co does not recognize your permit as legal.

as stated in the link below.
For Co you must be a resident of the state in which your permit was issued.

so if you are a Utah resident with a Utah permit you are fine, but if you are a Co resident with a Utah permit, not so much.

highlighted in red above the Map

"The state of Colorado no longer recognizes the validity of any permit issued by any state to a nonresident of that state (see CRS 18-12-213 amended 2007)."

I lived in SD for a couple of years and had one up there as well but you didn't even have to take a class, just stop by any Police Dept with $6 and you walked right out with your permit. That was Kewl.

Here is a bit more info as well. Thanks for bringing this to light man!

The text in the e-mail is correct......Colorado does not honor non-resident permits. There are a few other states that also do not honor the non-res permits. I like to use this site http://www.handgunlaw.us/. This site is laso linked on my site.

Let me know if I can answer any questions.
