4bt into 69 bronco

Post by rooster »

Hey guys , been kinda slow on bronco stuff do to work and family but wanting to get back in the game . I currently have a 4bt cummins motor lying around and can't decide if I should put it in my bronco . My current setup is explorer 5.0 with zf5 tranny and d20 . The 4bt I have is a stationary motor so I know it will need at least a different injection pump and power steering/vaccume don't really know what else . Thoughts and opions greatly appreciated

I've always loved the torque of a diesel. Kinder is your man with the clubs 4BT experience, I believe he is around 26 mpg these days.

They're awesome, but very loud and not terribly smooth. If you want refinement, it's a terrible engine. They're awesome in every other respect. I'd like to go diesel at some point WAY down the road, but want to see what happens with the v6 VM Motori engines for swaps

Ya I would love to have the torque and milage... Although the explorer has pretty good low end already.
Just for grins what would a good 4bt like this go for as this one has low hours?

4BT engines usually sell for a good bit over $2000 but those are already set-up for a vehicle.

People do get them for less sometimes, the trick is finding the bread truck* with one and buying the whole truck.
