Power steering belt squeal

My power steering belt keeps squeaking and just can't seem to get it taight. Seems like the bracket is bending and causing it to loosen up. I have the one bolt going into the head and the adjuster bracket into the water pump. Is there any other bracket or anything that might work better or be more sturdy without doing the serp setup?

I used a slightly modified bracket off an old Ford van with a piece of pipe for a spacer and could get it tight enough to not squeal. There was no flex in the bracket. Make sure you have the right size pulley though. The one I grabbed at the yard was made for a wider belt and never worked. Ended up getting a new pulley at Napa that worked well.

The bracket is sitting in a bin in the garage and wont be going back on with the "new" engine. If it is worth a trip to Pueblo to you, you can have it. I was running a dual return saginaw pump.
