4R70W tranny drain

Postby DanHall » Sat Nov 14, 2015 2:15 pm

I pulled the pan on the donor today to drain and replace the filter and a little plug was in the bottom of the pan. I had no idea where it came from or what it was for... Thank you google! It is a plug used during assembly to keep dirt and debris out of the tranny during assembly and when the dipstick is installed it drops into the pan. Of course my first thought was, oh crap! Tells me that the pan has never been dropped though. Fluid didn't look bad at all though so at least it has had a little attention.

Viper, yours is certainly prettier than mine! Trade ya! :-) Mine ran and shifted strong in the Mountaineer so other than draining, cleaning the pan and replacing the filter it is going right in the Bronco. Going to try to pull with the engine. Should be easy enough.

Not "would", more like "will".

Sweet. I'd like to reserve that seat. I'll get it all cleaned up for you.
