Engine rebuild book

Post by Justin »

I'd like to get a really good book or two on engine rebuilding so I can do some reading before I try any building of my 351w. Any suggestions?

I got a book on rebuilding small block fords. Worked really well for me. Got it at Barnes and noble.

The 2 books that I used that seem to be the most popular "go-to" on rebuilding small block Fords were:

"How to Rebuild Small-Block Ford Engines" by Tom Monroe (I thought this one was written better but some of the info was a little dated)
&
"How to Rebuild the Small-Block Ford" by George Reid (This one is in color and has a lot better pictures)

I also bought a video from Scott at MPG Heads that he did years ago that helped me a lot. I was able to actually watch how things were done and have them explained in the video- plus I could rewind it and watch a particular part 50 times if I needed to...

Thanks ECK - I did see the Tom Monroe book and was going to buy that one.

I got two extra 351W's that I don't need and will go through them and then sell them later.

Just wing it. You'll be fine. Specs are overrated.

Now that sounds like the best plan yet !

You're assuming it's worked-- another 24-72 months before we will really know!

What year are the 351w's you getting rid of? I'm just looking for a good basic block.

I'm not sure, they came with the Bronco...I haven't looked up the numbers yet...guessing 70's.

I'll take a look today at work,

Erik,
I'm interested in one as well. Currently have the 302 HO w/ the 351W firing order, but want to upgrade to a 351W. Mine I believe is an '87 out of a mustang. PM me when/if they become available.
