Re: Poor Kirk: The fuel price spotting thread
I'm a bit jealous.
I really want a trailer for the Bronco, but can't justify a third trailer. I think the reality is that I would stretch the Bronco using a all new custom frame and turn it into a truck like AEV did with the Brute.

kinder wrote:Finished installing a 23 gal main tank today. I'm able to carry 34 gal now, at my usual 20+ mpg that's 680 miles. I'll be installing mine & Rob's old old main tank in the trailer this summer (front to back) with an electric pump & quick disconnects. That'll put me at 56 gal & 1120 miles.
And gas mileage drops to below 15mpg with all that weight......

It doesn't, at least as I'm set up right now. I've loaded the truck & trailer heavy with hunting gear and went up to the NW section of the flat tops two years now and averaged 20mpg each time. That's relying on my GPS for mileage and not the odometer. I pull the passes at around 45-50 mph and cruise 60-65 mph on the flat stuff.
What hurts my mpg is wind resistance not weight. For example, I'll lose 2-3 mpg with the camper but not with the RTT.

Eh, I think they have their own motivation for it as well.
They're trying to get us to lower our production. Onshore US oil production has been in a boom the last few years and SA wants us to buy more from them.
This is not the first time the Saudis have lowered prices and increased production when American oil producers were doing well.
Then when the US producers go out of business the Saudis raise their prices and make their money back.

A little help from the Sooper card makes the F350 the most economical beast in the fleet

January 2017. Much of what you see happening with oil, from a geopolitical standpoint, is a result of uncertainty with who our next president will be and how they will react to the current global situation. Regardless of who is elected, I see crude prices rising again early next year and settling back into "normal" by fall of '17.
But I'm probably just making stuff up. Dunno.

Whew... I was hoping I was not alone. O&G Companies I am close to are expecting a up tic to the new "normal" by the end of the year. Won't see $80 barrels but maybe $40. I hear ya about the job security. We had over 15M forecast for bifuel kits for gensets and frac trucks last year. We sold under $1M.

I graduated (late in life) with an Occupational Safety Engineering degree w/ oilfield emphasis & there are no jobs to find unless you have 10+ years experience. I love the cheap diesel for my powerstroke, but I'd rather pay more and have a job in my field.
