Reinforced Tire Rack

Does anyone have suggestions for reinforcing the tire rack to hold a larger tire? I've for 31" tires and am afraid of the spare damaging the stock tire rack due to the weight. I like the look and functionality of the stock tire rack though so I want something that works and looks similar. Suggestions?

Most mods I've seen include adding a "foot" off the bottom that goes to the bumper or frame.

A search over on CB.com. I don't think it's really come up over there. That said, a 31" tire isn't that heavy. I suspect you'd be OK as it sits.

I've had a 33 on mine for 20 years with no issues. You should be fine with a 31. I dropped down from a 33x12.50 to a 33x10.50 recently just to shed some weight.

Thanks, I thought about the foot down to the bumper as well but wanted to get an outside opinion. Also good to know the stock tire rack can hold the weight, hadn't seen a weight rating for how much it could hold and would rather play it cautious now that the exterior of the bronco looks the way we want.

Anyone have any good recommendations on metal fabricators in the area? I want to get a mount that matches the hole patter of the rim to hold it on a little tighter then the stock version.
