Yep- Friday was a mad dash to get it running. Replaced the cam synchro gear and shaft and then scrambled across town to get new tires.

Looks like you could make a calendar out of shots from that trip only.

If you guys are able to post up here once you get to your campsite or if one of you guys that has my number wants to text me this afternoon/evening and let me know you have cell coverage, I can text or post tomorrow morning to confirm I am heading up so you can either wait for me or not.

Thanks guys--for those camping, have fun and be safe!

My uncle and I are meeting at or near the Downieville Starbucks at 6:30 tomorrow morning if you want to meet us there we would be happy to caravan up with you. I am not sure how my truck will tow with the new engine so it may a little bit of a slow go up the hills so I understand if you would rather go solo to not have to wait. I am hoping this new engine will pull the passes at a minimum of 45 mph but I won't know until I get there. My last engine had a rough time pulling them near 35 mph and sounded like it was going to come apart at any second while doing it so I have to think this new engine will do substantially better with the work I did to it. We'll be hard to miss.

We'll how'd that new 460 run?

Not as well as I hoped. Definitely more power than before but still not up to my expectations. It's time to throw some headers and full exhaust on it. I've done a ton of work to get air in but have done nothing to let air out so the exhaust should make a big difference. I've read that exhaust on trucks like mine wake them up in stock form so it should really help my semi built engine. After that I'll go mass air and obd2 with a custom tune from Garry. If I'm still not happy I'll re gear the truck to 4.88s. I imagine I'll be able to run the speed limit up the passes after just the exhaust, mass and tune though.

I gained 10 mph going up the passes over my old 460 so there is definitely more power, just not enough. I'm still looking for an old Kenne Bell supercharger set up or the vortech supercharger set up but I've not seen either for sale anywhere in the last 2 years I've been looking.
