Do you just need a new core? Those are only like $20-25. Or is your box cracked due to age?

Thanks Phyler, I haven't pulled it out yet, but I do know that ALL my radiator fluid ran out under the passenger seat and out the door before I knew WTF was going on!

Phyler is on the right track. Sounds like core rather than the box. Easy to replace

While you are in there you might as well replace the foam seals.

That’s right on point... and while I’m there shouldn’t I do a motor or squirrel cage upgrade to???.... please, let’s not get started a “ while you’re there” thread! LOL!!!

Yes you should. Motor and squirrel cage is $50. The best upgrade you can do to get heat into the bronco.

How do you think my build thread got started? I needed new body mounts so I got there by replacing 50% of the sheet metal. That said, of you are going to replace the core, do whatever else you can to build the box once. It's worth it.

You suggested the heater upgrade yourself, not me! LOL.

The squirrel cage and motor make a huge difference, and are way easier when the box is out (ask me how I know). But you don't have to.

I expect that the seal kit/foam pieces inside the box will be toast/dust/non-existent. You probably, actually do need the seal kit or the fan will just pull air around the heater core, instead of through it. And the box won't seal to the firewall and cold air/water will get into the cab where the heater core penetrates the firewall. You'll either have a sub-par performance or spend more time & money trying to cobble the seals together than the kit costs. IMO.

You will be time and money ahead.

Nice to have an extra box, it will make the swap fast. You will be saving so much time you might as well install EFI and 4 link the rear while the heater box is out. poke

'While I'm at it' is the best way to deal with 'How many times do you want to take it apart?'

Take it apart and change one part and put it back together, take it apart and change one part and put it back together, take it apart and change one part and put it back together, take it apart and change one part and put it back together, take it apart and change one part and put it back together,......................................................
