Pulled the timing chain and gears out, installed new set. While it was down I swapped the differentials out of one Bronco to the other from 3:50 to 4:11. It made a big difference.
Then the motor dropped oil pressure new Valvoline 10-40 with FL1A oil filter. Cold 80 lb pressure warm 40 pounds. 100 miles later the warm pressure drop's to 25 . I pull oil pan and looked at 2 main and rod bearings, the bearings have the look like they ran without oil. Crankshaft end play is .006. Bottom line I have no faith in this motor that it will no brake on the road. I spent most of last summer fighting this motor.
So my wife asked me to just buy a crate motor.
I installed a Blue Print long block 302 roller. From Summit Racing. Motor is bolted in and hope to have it running by this weekend

Sometimes you just have to throw in the towel. I'm at that point if I have 1 more issue(I sure hope not). So far this go around has been great.

I just feel like I have been chasing my tail here. Time redoing things on the 1/2 cab when I should of been working on my first Bronco. At this point all I want to do is change the oil. If didn't enjoy driving my Broncos so much I would lock the shop and find something else to do. But everything else I enjoy I need that damm Bronco!!

Haven't done it yet but will be installing my Viperwolf built power steering box. It's so good looking I almost just want to sit and stare at it.

Thanks Phil! Image

Thanks, Dad, for the welder and some adjustment instructions!

I got mine out yesterday for a run around town. Man, it's been too long and I forgot how fun it is! Need to run it around more as my trail MPG's are miserable!

I'm contemplating putting the back seat back in so both kids can go!

If youΓÇÖre buying Argon, I should practice on your hidden spots getting better in preparation for your visible areas & mine!!

My greatest challenge is how to entertain my kids while I weld!!

We should try organizing a training day with some members more experienced in quarter replacement & floor pan grind-outs.

We've done a floor pan tech day in the past. I'd be game to put together another if there's enough interest.

Worked on the Bronc from 6am to 1 am...well, and took the Bronco West w/ the kids for a hike.

Rebuilt (6 ujoints & 2 Cardan centering-pins) & got both driveshafts in, tested out 4WD for the first time as IΓÇÖd never yet had a front shaft ...NOTE TO SELF: get new exhaust before wheeling, ft. Driveshaft rubs on olΓÇÖ curmudgeon rusty pipes!

Cut out the lower passenger floor pan, which ya coulda thrown a football through had ya the whim.

Tried out a spot weld cutter for the first time, works pretty dang well! Also tested out Permatex ΓÇÿRust TreatmentΓÇÖ on some light surface rust thatΓÇÖs extremely hard to get to without a sand blaster. Hopefully it works long-term (feedback?) I used it on the A-pillar sheet metal seam because, fortunately, the A-pillars are still perfectly rigid...and on some rocker seams.

Finished welding in the majority of my upper cowl patch replacement by the windshield frame.

This bodywork stuff, I gotta say, is pretty damn addictive!!

No pic but I performed "scuffing Saturday". Scuffed all the epoxy primer and cleaned it in prep for high build and paint. Too bad I fly for work tomorrow morning and then camping next weekend. Maybe I can paint it in two weeks.

Also drove it around the block and the rebuilt power steering feels amazing. Thanks Phil!

I'm keeping the same color at least attempting to. Hot Ginger Metallic. Paint code Z. That said, if you just buy that it doesn't match the actual color on my Bronco yet that's the code on the glove box. Had a piece of the inner kick panel that I saved that had never seen the light of day that I had the guys at the paint shop you recommend match. We'll see how it turns out.

Any guesses?
My ΓÇÿ72 had one of these in it also! What are the odds?

I honestly had no idea what those were. But the Mexican blocks are supposed to be a good block from what I was told. So there is that.

Need to update my build thread with the progress but got one side primed today. Hopefully will sand and spray color tomorrow. Then will wait for it to cure, put the fender and door back on and turn it around and do the other side! [emoji16]
